Jay - 2, Eb' li chilan - 0

WARNING: This post shows and talks about chickens dying, dead, and various "gross" pictures. If you don't like this kind of stuff, don't look at it, read it, and definitely don't push play on the videos.

I left my house yesterday a boy and came back a man. Shortly after I got to Darrell's we learned that we were going to kill two chickens, and since Darrell did not want to kill one yet I got to kill both. I will not talk too much about it because I'll upload the videos and pictures and they will tell the story a lot better than me. I slit the first chicken's throat (a rooster, but not my rooster) and I was not exactly sure what to do so it was a little rough. Darrell's Na told me that the neck was her favorite part and not to cut too deep so I was worried more about wrecking the neck than anything else. I snapped the second chicken's neck (a hen) and I thought this went a lot smoother and was more humane. I felt the neck break more or less right away and then it did the little flapping of its wings that you can see and then was no more. After killing the chickens we dipped them in boiling water so that we could pluck the feathers, then we washed it, and then we moved to cleaning it. Darrell's Mom cleaned the rooster to show me how to clean the hen. It smelled very similar to a fish if you have ever cleaned a fish and it made me amazingly not hungry. All in all it was a lot of work, taking about 3-4 hours, and I don't think I will ever be able to eat or even look at a chicken in the same way.

 Still alive.
 "Sharpening" the knife.
 Plucking the feathers.
 Washing the chicken.

 Cutting it to pieces.
Some of the gross parts. Those are eggs that you see. One of them blew up and the yoke went flying everywhere.
We think this is the gizzard. You rip all that gross stuff out and eat the part around it.
Enjoying the final product. I had it for lunch and dinner. Darrell also had it for breakfast this morning.

The internet is terrible here and I cannot get the videos to work. I will see what I can do in the future.
